Stay Tuned

This week should be interesting: tomorrow night, the Phoenix Mercury face off against the Washington Mystics, so expect a gallery late tomorrow or early Wednesday.

I’ve also gotten permission for use of some images for the purpose of green screens. I don’t shoot them very often, and whenever anyone asks about how to do them, I try to reason with them that unless they have a specific need, go with another idea. Of course, if you need that dinosaur/prehistoric or fairy/fantasy background, well that’s kinda hard to do with props.

But wait, that’s not all.

A flash presentation on Noise Ninja is also on the way. I’ll cover the basics, from basic noise removal, then go onto some tricks that I’ve been using for a while. Ever use Noise Ninja on a well exposed image, shot at low ISO with no noise? I have, and for good reason. After this segment, you may start doing it too.

Backing up our images is crucial nowadays. Whether you’re a hobbyist or professional, there really isn’t an excuse for not having backups or mirrors of your work. I’m going to cover how to automate your backup process on a PC and Mac.

I was going to post a quick blurb on setting up remote cameras. I do this a lot at basketball games, and in fact, I was spurred on because of a post on Fred Miranda. I was going to discuss the use of remotes, but after reading it, I thought it was a little too light on content. So, I’ll be doing a how-to on seting up a remote of your own.

And while I have the video camera warmed up, I’ll get that how-to on making your own scrim out.

Also, the wildly popular Spending Smart will now be a recurring post. I’ll look at ways to save money on different aspects of photography as a hobby, and as a business.

I’m glad I rested this weekend. After writing all this out, it seems the next few weeks will be busy.

Thanks to everyone who’s been checking out the site, posting links on other forums, and generally supporting me in this endeavor.
