Event: Sky at Mercury
The Mercury won against the Sky in overtime, 112-105. 33 points by Diana Taurasi, with Cappie Pondexter adding 31 led the way, but Barbara Farris was the hero, scoring a crucial basket after an offensive rebound to tie it at 95, forcing the overtime.
I love overtime games, they amplify the emotion of the event, and every sequence of events matters so much more to everyone involved.
I’ve got a game tonight, so a couple more photos, and a link to the gallery after the jump!
I love seeing players on the bench get excited with every basket. It shows a sense of camraderie. It’s a hard choice to make, because you want to see if there’s anything going on with the on court players.
Usually, when the game is close, in the late minutes, I switch the 300 2.8 out and stick with a 24-70 and 70-200, so I can get wider, contextual images of the team as a whole, of the court, of the bench, etc. Doing this adds more to the image than the usual isolated single player showing emotion. But I do try to get both.
This would have been the opening image, had the Sky won. This would have been a game winner, as Perkins hits the shot and gets the foul, to lead the Sky to a 95-93 lead with seconds left.
